Books give us access to perspectives, histories, and experiences beyond our own. Engaging with challenging ideas is part of the process. But first, they have to be within our grasp.
What we're allowed to read shapes what we're allowed to understand. Ultimately, we must have the agency to read what we choose and the freedom to think for ourselves.
